Activating Gippsland’s Renewable Energy Workforce Forum
Thursday, December 9 2021
The Australian Renewables Academy, a regional initiative committed to driving regional skills development for the renewable energy sector across Australia, hosted the Activating the Gippsland Renewable Energy Workforce Forum.
The Forum was held over one day at the Criterion Hotel in Sale, Victoria on 9 December 2021.
The Forum explored labour market challenges associated with meeting demand for a rapidly scaled-up renewable energy workforce and developed actions to ensure we optimise employment for a diverse range of people in Gippsland and other regional communities. To expand renewable energy generation, a new skilled and preferably local workforce will be required in a wide variety of roles, including construction.
Over the next decade, billions of dollars will be invested in renewable energy developments across regional Australia, creating thousands of local jobs. Renewable Energy Zones will facilitate transmission network expansion to accommodate new projects, including onshore and offshore wind, solar and PV, green hydrogen and battery energy storage.
